Frenchboro Public Library - Our Local Library

Lexile Levels - Each of our students knows the lexile level at which they are reading.  Students are encouraged to read books close to this level.  Visit this site, simply type in the title and author of your book, and you will learn if the book you have is right for you.

Newbery Books - This page from the American Library Association Website lists the current Newbery winners and   provides links for other award winners.

Roald Dahl  - Roald Dahl is a favorite of fifth grade readers.  Official tour guides include characters from his books.  Quotable quotes are humorous and thought provoking excerpts from his writing.

Shackleton's Adventures - This site has a lot of   information about Shackleton's incredible expedition  as well as photos of the Endurance and the crew

    New York Hall of  Science - This Science Museum, which is located in  Queens, NY, has a lot of online info and activities for you to   explore.

    Science News for Kids  - Science News for Kids offers "suggestions for hands-on activities, books, articles, Web resources, and other useful materials" for students ages 9-13. Check out the LabZone which has a new activity each week.                                     

    NeuroScience for Kids - Explore the nervous system, read current news about what's new in the field of  neuroscience, and play games to improve your memory.

    The Hunger Site - visit this site sponsored by the United Nations World Food Program to donate free food to starving people around the world. Did you know that 24,000 people die of hunger or hunger related disease every day and that over 3/4 of those deaths are children under 5?  

    Hunger Map - from United Nation's World Food Program.  A world map shows the percent of each country's undernourished population. Links provide information about causes, solutions, and ways to help.                                  

    Child Labor - A link on the TFK site that includes info about how children are forced to work, photo essays, and how kids can help to stop Child Labor.

    STATE OF MAINE KIDS PAGE  - Plenty of good graphics and gimmicks to help us learn about Maine and our people
